Like most people that live in the south you know snow is not something we see that often. This last week snow fell...and kept falling, and falling, and falling. I personally felt like I was in Colorado...minus the mountains and ski lifts.
We woke up with a little snow on the ground. After Aaron took Kennedy to school Collin got bundled up so he could experience his "first" snow. Notice what he has in his hand...it would have come in handy.
After this precious smile...we decided to go in because it was obviously freezing. I turn around to open the door...guess what it was locked. No Key. No phone. No way in the house. I was in my pj's, cloth house shoes, and a very large jacket. Collin and I walked...I mean, I carried Collin through the field to the neighbors house to use the phone. I tried to call Aaron but he didn't recognize the number so he didn't answer. Eventually, he did answer the phone and came back to the house to let us inside.
After a long day of trying to keep warm we picked up our little snow bunny.
The slow ride home made her tired.
Once everyone was awake, we all bundled up and went outside. We built a snowman, made snow angels, ran and fell down (on purpose), and had several snowball fights. This was a blessing. It allowed for more family time and true, simple fun.
Normally, I am not a cold weather person but these few days full of snow was a blessing and I am grateful for them.

I fear this will happen to me... That I will lock all of us out of the house while outside playing or that I or the kids will lock me out while they are inside. I'm going to start taking my key with me when I go outside by myself, now that they are starting to lock and unlock the doors. Heck, it's time for child-proofing the door knobs.
ReplyDeleteNo fun for you to walk in the snow in house shoes all that way while holding Collin. :( Thankfully though your neighbor was home.
