Well this post is a lot late but as the saying goes "Better late than never"....
We went to Austin for our summer "vacation". We have had a busy year so we wanted to do something close, relaxing, and cheap(if that is possible). We stayed at Barton Creek Resort...which was fabulous. The kids were so excited to have Aaron around 24 hours a day for a week....lets get started.
Only about an hour and a half late getting on the road...
We made a stop in Hillsboro to do a little shopping at the outlet mall and have some lunch. The kids were so excited to be out of their seats. Did you notice anything strange in Kennedy's hand...a Starbucks strawberry and creme drink...what has this world come to when your child requests a Starbucks drink??? By this point Aaron was about to go crazy because we didn't find anything at the mall, waiting to get a table, sweating through lunch, then multiple bathroom breaks, and this was only about 2 hours in to our trip.
We made it to our resort and this was the view from our room...it does not do it justice...it was truly a beautiful view.
We came home from dinner one day and this is what we saw outside....can you see it?
We LOVE the elevator...
Here we are at the kids pool...it was perfect for Collin and it was ALWAYS warm which was wonderful when we went down for our nightly swim right before bedtime.
It seemed so warm outside until the wind hit...can you see the goosebumps?
Lifesize chess anyone?
You might ask...what are you guys doing at the park? Even though it seems odd-sort of-the resort had their own kids playground. It turned out to be one of the best things ever. No matter what, we could go out on the playground and let the kids climb and run off some of their energy. Collin and Kennedy slid so much they ended up with stawberries on their arms from the repetitive sliding.
The resort, even though it was super nice, was so kid friendly. They had a nature trail for the kids. We went hiking. We found a real life tipee, streams, sticks, and other fun areas for the kids to climb and look for animals around the little ponds.
Every so often they had these neat little huts to hold cold water and cups...
There were beautiful golf courses around the resort plus one just our size.
One day we went to the Austin Zoo...I am used to the Fort Worth and Dallas Zoo so this was a little different. But the kids loved it anyways. We got to see 3 lions actually up and playing and roaring. We also go to get up close and personal to some large tortises...
We had a fabulous time on our trip. We ate, swam, hiked, played golf, and played on playgrounds. All in all we had a fabulous time.
Once we got back I went to have my hair done and once I got back Kennedy and I went and had our nails done...a little pampering is always fun....she just loved it.
On Saturday we headed to our yearly outing...the CIRCUS. Ringling Brothers is the best circus....Collin loved the animals and Kennedy loved it all. We always have a great time at the circus.
Our vacation was fun and relaxing. The kids had a great time with daddy and I think he got a little taste of my world. It was fabulous and I can't wait for our next mini-outing.
